Mission Community Prayer of Commitment

The Western Dales Mission Community was founded seven years ago, in Advent 2015. Entering our eighth year, here is a prayer of commitment, based on Isaiah 2.1–5, for us to pray together:

As the people of the Western Dales Mission Community, help us to continue to journey alongside each other, supporting one another, valuing one another, encouraging each other.
We will walk in the light of God,
We will live in the light of God,
We will share the light of God with others.
We rededicate ourselves to this promise today.

The full text of the prayer is below:

All As the people of God, we want to climb God’s mountain and see how he works so we can live the way we were intended to.

Lord, help us to climb God’s mountain together as the people of the Western Dales Mission Community

All We will walk in the light of God.

We acknowledge that we sometimes prefer our swords and spears to use against others, to divide us from each other and to defend our differences

All We will live in the light of God.

Help us to change our weapons into shovels and hoes so we can work alongside each other for the good of our communities, to produce good things to share with each other rather than keep the attitudes which can destroy and harm

All We will share the light of God with others.

All As the people of the Western Dales Mission Community, help us to continue to journey alongside each other, supporting one another, valuing one another, encouraging each other.

We will walk in the light of God, We will live in the light of God

We will share the light of God with others. 

We rededicate ourselves to this promise today.
